The Samsung Galaxy S7 Active will certainly debut once again giving consumers the rugged design and highly durable smartphone of the year once again. The Galaxy S7 will launch during the early part of the 2nd quarter of 2016 while the Active version will follow shortly behind. The numerous features found only in the Active has helped AT&T become highly successful with this carrier specific handset.
Since its debut, the Samsung Galaxy Active series has given consumers many features that is missing in the standard Galaxy S model, and the 2016 release of the Galaxy S7 Active will be one more reason to wait just a bit longer. Once again this release is bound to bring out the very best in design, durability, and of course all the underwater features that we have come to appreciate. Still with plenty of time to go until we hear the official announcement, there’s already a ton of interest on the 2016 launch.
The following preview/review discloses all on the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active rumors, specs, features, concept, price, preorders, and release date info.
Galaxy S7 Active Rumors
The early rumors are a bit premature as there’s still plenty of time until the official announcement. If Sammy remains consistent as they typically do, we should see something official on the AT&T only release sometime in May of 2016. We’re hearing that once again the standard S7 and S7 Edge will be launched in April of next year with the Active following suit sometime in June.
AT&T will once again be the only carrier to feature the S7 Active launch. Many other carriers have tried to claim some kind of stake, but Sammy has been holding true with on their AT&T partnership, and this isn’t expected to change with their upcoming release. The price will remain competitive with no surprises expected.
Probably one of the biggest rumors on the new Active is the ability for a deeper and longer submersion time. The current model can be submerged in up to 3 meters of water (about 9 feet) for a period of about 30 minutes. We’re hearing about a higher SPF rating which will allow for more time in the water, and deeper underwater cinematography.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Active Specs
The S7 Active specs will be significantly better than the S6 Active while maintaining what’s lacking in the standard model. Unfortunately, Sammy seems to conveniently leave out the waterproof features, shock proof sensors, and much more in their highly touted flagship which gives consumers something truly worth waiting for.
If you’re one of the many that needs that extra piece of mind, the rugged S7 Active will be something truly worth waiting for. The bold, beautiful, and extremely surround will once again make the Active a fan-favorite for those who need it. Sporting a slightly larger screen, better camera specs, and we’re still hoping to see 3D visual quality features.
We’ve been hearing the new Active will get an extra inch to the display and it may feature an amazing UHD display. If so, this will give you a screen resolution up to 3480 x 2160 which will be significantly better than the display of the S6 Active. The adaptive display is expected to be even more refined which will further allow automatic changes for brightness and sharpness giving you a rich, and clear display anytime, anywhere.
The front camera is rumored to sport a 7.0 MP shooter while the rear camera is believed to be around 19 megapixels. We’re also hoping to see a deeper and longer submersion time than the 3 meters and 30 minutes seen in the current model.

S7 Active Features
The Samsung Galaxy S7 Active features will make the new handset the most anticipated durable smartphone of 2017, once again. Since the Active was first launched years ago consumers have clung to the idea of having a truly durable smartphone. It’s since been regarded as the perfect handset that meets the needs of children, business use, personal use, and those who spent time outdoors.
We’re hearing a lot of rumors the IP68 rating will be improved upon in the new concept. The current model allow you to take underwater photos and record video of no more than 3 meters (9 feet) and for a duration of up to 30 minutes, but we’re hearing so much more. This could mean depths of up to 15 feet and submersion times of 1 hour which is ultimately what we’re hoping for.
Something else that’s intriguing is the possibility of a fingerprint scanner being built right-in. This is something that was lacking in the current S6 Active, but we’re hearing it will be in the S7 Active although it’s yet to be confirmed.
S7 Active Concept
The concept will remain the same as the same rugged, waterproof, and shockproof design will appeal to a specific subset of users. The outerbody makes the Active one of the most durable Android smartphones on the market, and is far superior from anything Apple has to-date. The same rugged design will be back, but with enhancements to the underwater SPF rating expected.
Price and Preorders
It’s rumored the active price will remain about the same at the time of launch when comparing it to the launch price of the S6 Active. This will mean AT&T new and current customers can expect to pay just under $700 for the full purchase price with options for 2 year contracts and installment prices also.
Those up for a renewal or new two year contract can secure the handset for $199 with no monthly payments, but remember, this requires a two year commitment for one line of service. AT&T Next is the installment plan that offers both no money down payment options and a money down option for a cheaper monthly payment.
This could mean a 20, 24, or 30 month lease option with prices ranging about $24/month – $35/month. Those looking for a cheaper monthly payment can look to take advantage of the AT&T Next with down payment option of about $200 with 28 monthly payments around $18/month.
Preorders through AT&T should be made official right after the official announcement which we’re expecting to see by the end of May. Preordering the AT&T Galaxy S7 Active will be easily the best way of securing the new Active at the time of launch with many consumers already looking forward to 2016. We’ll update you with the official preorders and release date info as soon as we get it.
Release Date Rumors
The latest rumors on Galaxy S7 Active release date have been pretty consistent, and it looks like AT&T is looking at the middle of June 2016. We’re hoping Samsung goes into full-swing with mass production a bit earlier as the long shipping and in-store pickup delays will only become longer with consumer interest already at an all-time high.
The US S7 Active release will certainly be huge, especially considering the marketing that will take place in the couple of weeks leading up to the launch. The AT&T exclusive is expected to bring in a few new customers which is one of the things the US cell carrier is hoping for. For those outside of the US or with any other carrier other than AT&T, unfortunately, it doesn’t look like you’ll be one of the lucky one’s.
Wrapping up this AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 Active Preview; Rumors, Specs, Features, Concept, Price, Preorders, and Release Date Info

With truly refined specs and features, consumers should be getting more than they bargained for with the 2016 release.
